BRUICHLADDICH 17YO (70cl, 46%) Bruichladdich 17 years old is one of the bottlings in the current core range. The Master Distiller, Jim McEwan, personally selects the oak casks from the Bruichladdich warehouses and carefully vatted them together to create an individually style or cuvee, which is full, rich and complex, with warmth and balance. It has a soft, gentle nose of sweet oak, flowers, vanilla, nutmeg, dried apple and apricot. It's round and creamy with a subtle interplay between vanilla-like oak, macaroons, fruit and nuts on the palate. It has a fresh and crisp finish. |

BRUICHLADDICH 1984 GOLDER STILL (70cl, 51%) This bottle is launch in mid-November 2008 with a limited numbers of 4,900. These bottlings comes from some unusual bourbon casks, rare squat hogsheads. These experimental dumpy casks were used for a brief period in the 1800s before American coopers settled on the current format for ease of storage. The extra whisky/wood contact given to the maturing spirit is reminiscent of an older style character, the character of casks from a bygone era: an evocative barley sugar flavour and a radiant, alluring natural colour, golder still than any other type of American oak cask today could ever give. |
