| Port Ellen | SPRINGBANK 18YO (70cl, 46% ABV, Sherry Cask) This whisky will in time become a permanent part of Springbank's legendary range. With an outturn of 7800 bottles in 2009 that sold almost instantly. It has an initial notes of marzipan on the nose that reveals stronger aromas of liquorice and treacle toffee. Like home-baked cake full of everything that smells so good that you can't resist another helping. It's palate is incredibly deep with balance. A classic Springbank, backed up by the fruits of 18 years maturation in predominantly sherry casks. Rich and oily from the moment it hits the palate, the whisky develops to reveal dried fruits and just a hint of smoke. A fine combination of sugar candy, almonds and Christmas cake emerge on the finish. |
