CAOL ILA 18YO (70cl, 43%) Soft and matured, bottled at cask strength. With a fruity and appetising nose, little or no trace of smoke until the addition of water brings up scents of almond oil and oilskins. The palate is sweet with a pleasant, light-flavoured smokiness leading to a sweet-smoky, lingering finish. |

CAOL ILA 25YO (70cl, 58.4%) This is a rare bottling, distilled in 1979, bottled in 2005 at cask strength. Aged in American and European oak refill casks, from a connoisseurs' Islay distillery, the result, a robust, complex whisky. This whisky is firm, fresh, smooth-bodied, with medicinal 'attack'. Peat smoke and creamy fruits on the nose, sweetly floral and drying to taste, then very maritime with lingering and smokey finish. |
